That's an interesting perspective you have. I still think a DJ, or disc jockey, should posses the necessary skill set to perform his / her job. By your thinking, technology can do it all of you, while you just sit back , and watch with the rest of the crowd. Computers can't jockey discs. We just use...

Auto Beat Matching DJ apps
I hope everyone on the mspinky forum feels as strong as I do about the use of automatic beat matching. beat matching is a basic skill that every dj should know. I simply will not use an app that does this for me. I think it posses a serious threat to all our reputations as Dj's, and I will continue ...

There are more options
Wait to buy anything. I will be posting about a test with the behringer fca202 , it is a $79 firewire interface. Firewire is time stamped , and should give much better performance. I will post my findings as soon as I can.

USB input clock
Keep in mind that 2 imics as an agrigate device may not work because of the usb input clock synch problem I mentioned in the original post. Try using just 1 imic , and your onboard audio , It works better that way. I only use 1 turntable with this set up ,plugged into the onbooard audio, to control ...

More about this
Yes, you will still need a preamp in the input signal chain. If you already have a 4in/4out card, like the maya 44, this won't be much use to you. This tip is for those who want to mix two tracks without having to buy a 200+ dollar interface. It is also a way for you to make a much larger audio inte...

griffin iMic + built-in audio aggregate setup APPLE USERS
for those of us with an apple running tiger 10.4 or higher. I have had great sucsess using my on board audio card , and an imic , by ganging them together in the aggreate device editor. If you have not played with the editor yet you can find it by launching "audio midi setup" , then clicking the "au...

The U46DJ will never have gain cotrol adjustment on 3/4
After many tech support emails promising me a new control panel with gain control over channels 3/4 . Clause at ESI in has informed me that it is not possible to adjust 3/4 , it never was , and never will be. The U46DJ was designed with a fixed gain on 3/4 , a major over site in my book. So as of no...

Letter to ESI about the problems with the U46DJ
I wrote this letter in hopes of finally getting the driver that ESI published in August of 2005 fininished. As you all probably know there are still no gain control for channel 3/4. How long do we have to wait? It's been several months since we tested your U46DJ with our software. At first it seemed...

The Pinky PLugin and Ableton Live
I have had a great time spinning my favorite wav file inside ableton live , I can scratch and mix with ease using 2 or more pinky plugins at the same time. If you have a midi controller it gets even better. You can midi map the pinky plug in functions inside the generic ableton plug in window. I als...

The digi 01 is the problem
The question should be , why is the DIGI 01 incompatable with so much software? The answer is Digi design wants to force you to use Pro Tools., and as such , they do a poor job of developing drivers for those of us who don't want to.
