ok. I now had a closer look at the maxi patch source. Taking the relevant bits out of this patch and putting my path and filename in there works. Still don't really know what's the difference (has to do with slashes, quotes and symbol somehow), but at the moment I don't care about that. can be closed.

passing a filename to the MPFS object
How can I pass a filename like "C:\path\name.mp3" to the MPFS object, so that this file is read?
I tried a message like "read C:\path\name.mp3", but it doesn't understand.

PinkyPluggo with pd's [vst~] patch - string interface access
Hi, I embedded PinkyPluggo into a pd patch using the [vst~] object and managed to read out parameters like pitch, velocity, warp, etc. But I can not find a way to access the filename. Is there a way to read and write this without using the editor view (which crashes pd as soon as a mouseover happens...

As PinkyPluggo is not perfectly suitable for my application, I wanted to give PinkyPlug a try. Not surprisable though that it crashed all my vst hosts, if it's programmed for an earlier pluggo version as you said. I'd like to use it with PureData's vst~ patch. As I won't use the GUI, I wonder if it'...
