Dual Powerbook Ghetto Setup Question

Post by wazzlez » Mon Oct 10, 2005 11:57 pm

Hey all, my friend and I are doing a radio show at a studio that has two 1200s and a Vestax PMC-05 Pro mixer. We both have identical G4 Powerbooks with one stereo in and one stereo out each. Until we get the dough for a good soundcard, couldn't we just use a powerbook for each deck? I don't see why not....

Dlpinkstah if you could confirm that this will work then I'll be buying ASAP.

Should work fine

Well, I don't see any reason why this wouldn't work. I've certainly done single-turntable demonstrations plenty of times using the built-in audio in/out jacks on my Aluminum Powerbook G4. So putting two of them together, one for each turntable in your typical two-turntable DJ scenario should work just fine. I would still, however, recommend that you get phono preamps to boost the signal from the decks before it goes into the audio input jack on the Powerbooks. That is unless the decks in question have line-level outputs.

Go for it!
