Just wondering, I see the option for using "generation 4" vinyl in maxi patch AO. Is this a new physical vinyl available for purchase? Or is this part of the new timecode MP3 (gen. 5) signal download/ CD ?

If it is a new vinyl, what is the benifit over gen. 3 vinyl?and where can I get it?.......Any info would be great,....Thanks

High unlikely that you can buy it yet, so that answers the question where you can get it

it will probally need pressed

you will be able to get it from all the M$ pinky distributers when its avaiale probally

The new menu choice is actually just a placeholder for now. There is no new vinyl yet. Of course, Ms Pinky is always tinkering with signal generators in the lab coming up with improvements to her already fab formula....

The earliest we will be seeing new vinyl is probably July or August.

Does anybody have a strong preference for 45 rpm vs. 33-1/3 rpm? Ms Pinky wants to know if she should cut the B-side at 45 rpm again... or just have both sides at 33-1/3. With both sides at 33-1/3 the total length of the available position codes is longer.. but some folks really prefer the 45 rpm for precise mixing...

From a "tunrtablist/scratching" point of view, I find it difficult to perform good scratches at 45 rpm speeds. For that reason, I have never used the B side. Personally I would perfer both sides cut at 33.3 RPM.

I may be in the minority here,being it seems alot of users here are more into long mixing(tecno,house,jungle, etc...). I find the 33.3RPM to be perfectly suitable for this also.

Another benefit, would be the ware out factor. With two identical sides, one would only have to switch to the other side when the time code starts to suffer from to much "cue burn"-lasts twice as long......Just my thoughts.

i play house/breaks/techno/ baslicly all electronic music but in a turntabilist way, i do the od drawn out mix, depends try to mix it out 33rpm is fine for mixing with i agree with afreek1000, i have never used the B side

I'll throw my support behind a 45rpm side- I really do prefer it for long mixes.

There is not a 45-rpm B-side on the Generation 4 vinyl. But for those of you who really must have 45 rpm we still have a *FEW* unused copies of Generation3 (with the B-side at 45), heavyweight split-color (half-black, half-pink).

33 all the way for scratching purposes, the slower the record rotates, the more handcontrol you have to cut with.
I dont see how 45 helps mixing, if the turntable motor is ok.
