45 RPM!!

Post by dlpinkstah » Fri Sep 26, 2008 1:27 am

For those of you who insist on mixing phat vinyl at 45 RPM, we have something you're going to love. Ms Pinky is proud to announce the official release of her all-new Heavy Duty 180-gram 45 RPM vinyl control disc. Compatible with all Ms Pinky software, Torq (from m-audio), Deckadance, and many others. This disc has been re-mastered to be extra loud, and spun at 45 RPM. For those who've purchased vinyl from us in the past and are registered with the shop, you can simply log in and purchase a specially-priced 4-pack of new discs, in your choice of color, and now also your choice of RPM!

Could you explain the differences from the latest ones?

It could mean phono preamps are unnecessary?

Thanks

Phono preamps will still be necessary, of course.

The main difference is that the master plates were cut at 45 RPM, instead of 33-1/3 rpm like the other discs we've made. So the default playback speed of the disc should be 45 RPM, not 33-1/3. This is advantageous for certain users who are accustomed to mixing 45 RPM music vinyl. Another advantage of these discs is that they are pressed on the highest quality 180-gram vinyl which means they will last longer, and also perform better in high-volume environments.

It's very uncommon to use a 45 RPM disc for scratching. These new discs are not really intended for scratching, just basic beat-matching and mixing.

Yes. Select "Torq" vinyl in the Deckadance vinyl control preferences. Even though this vinyl carries the "Ms Pinky" label, it is actually the same digital scrambling algorithm as the "Torq" vinyl. I know it's a little confusing.....
