pinky plug (at the moment OS X only)

hi,

I also felt the need for such a plugin some month ago and started coding back then...

but there was a "not so friendly to install the file-browser" issue (that couldn't be solved from my side) witch hold me back to release it for the public.

Even thought I havn't changed it for two months I decided to let you guys play with it right now! Maybe someone likes it. At least there's more choice for you and that ain't bad, aight?!

I've also included the source. Wouldn't it be great to join forces, dlpinkstah?!

Oh yeah, one final thought. Why the heck should someone download my PinkyPlug?:

- no pop-ups (like the vinyl-ctrl list or the open file dialog), witch should be avoided in plugins (according to the guidelines of cycling '74). They really can crash your sequencer, as happened to me!

- the last loaded mp3 will be reloaded when you reopen your sequencer-song

- bigger and zoomable waveform display

- it's more black ;)

available at http://www.klangfreund.com/other_stuff/ ... _plug.html

it's beta and served "as is"

Fantastique

Two thumbs up!!

Great work! I'm hoping lots of Max users will create custom plugins for Ms Pinky. Everything you need to do it is there. You can probably base it around the MPTCFS~ object, and then add other things as you see fit.

password not working

Post by wwinfrey » Sun Jan 29, 2006 1:55 am

Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but the password I use to http authenticate into mspinky.com/download is not working as far as opening up this dmg file goes.

Please help! I've tried every combo I can think of:

http username

http password

archive password

http username (ALL CAPS)

http password (ALL CAPS)

archive password (ALL CAPS)

http username.http password

What am I doing wrong?

new password required

Sorry about that Wally-- my bad. I'll email you the password you need for that. I think you joined the Fan Club really early on in the game, so your download password isn't the same one that Klangfruend is using.

The Klangfruend plugin , and file broweser

Post by mobius » Sun Jan 29, 2006 7:29 pm

I see that the plug in and file broweser are not one plug in , and Im wondering how this will help me brows files with the plug in. Hopefully we can turn this into 1 plugin soon because it looked promissing to me. I tried to email Klangfruend directly at <pinkyplug@klangfreund.com>: but the mailer demon returned it.

Klangfreund's Pinky Pluggo uses mxj_filebrowse for it's filebrowser. I'm pretty sure there's a good way to go about this -- I'll ping my friends at Cycling to see what they think is best.

Also, I got a chance to look at the underlying structure -- very, very nicely laid out! I'm gonna see what I can do about the default UI buttons, I know Max/MSP's default stuff isn't super-pretty, but with some jsui hacking we might be able to get something nicer looking in there.

Great work Klangfreund! (and thanks for the password, Factotum...)

hi guys,

sorry for being silent for such a long time, I thought email notification was turned on on my post. It wasn't...

Now there are two dmg files without password protection. I've just replaced the two mspinky thingies in the pinkyplug_source.dmg with placeholder textfiles (so I won't publish mspinky stuff that wasn't meant to be published).

It IS only one plugin. I just wasn't able to pack this one plugin into a single file. Yeah, that's sad, I know. This mxj stuff is quite new in MaxMSP. It's just not ready for Pluggo Plugins, i.e. it's not possible to pack everything needed into a single file.

So the current state is: You have to manually move some files from my dmg-package to different locations on your system. But once this installation process is done, only one new plugin will appear inside your sequencer and the filebrowser is part of this single new plugin.

That's strange, I checked it and it worked. There's no (spam) filtering activated. Anyway, this issue motivated me to set up a contact form on my webpage, so there's now a alternative.

Thanks for taking a look! I really appreciate your kind words since I'm a MAX newbie (Pinky Plug is my second MAX project).
