problems getting pinky pluggo to work with Logic 8

Post by beatcreep » Wed May 07, 2008 11:00 pm

Hello all,

I'm a noob, so excuse me if this is a silly post...

I'm trying to get pinky pluggo to work within Logic 8 (it's made my Mac crash 3 times so far - although i think that it may be the crappy audio interface that I'm using...)

I've installed the 'cycling 74 pluggo'; then I installed my pinky pluggo.

I've opened Logic 8

Set up a stereo audio channel

As an insert I've scrolled down to 'VST' and selected 'pinky pluggo'

Whilst in Pinky Pluggo I've carried out the following:

1) made sure 'vinyl control' was selected

2) went into 'more settings' and selected my generation of MsPinky vinyl

Then I started the record deck and clicked 'play' within pinky pluggo...

nothing happened!?!?!?

then i clicked on 'browse' and selected an audio file... still nothing...

My channels are configured right within Logic (coming in the right channels via the interface).

I'm stuck - please help!

I'm thinking that because it's VST and I'm using a Mac - is that the reason?

If it makes any difference here's the spec of my mac:

MacBook Pro
2.1 GHz Intel Core Duo
OSX 10.5.2

Cheers

"AudioUnit Scan.app"

Post by dlpinkstah » Thu May 08, 2008 8:27 pm

Excuse my ignorance (I'm not a Logic user) but I was under the impression that Logic only allows the use of AudioUnit plugins... no VST's. Is that correct? If you want to use Ms Pinky in AudioUnit form you have to get the "AudioUnit Scan.app" which is available free as part of the Pluggo download from cycling74.com. After installing your Pinky Pluggo into "YourUserName"/Library/Audio/Plugins/VST/ you can then run the AudioUnit Scan.app and it will create an AudioUnit which should then open up inside Logic.

That seems like a very good answer!

Logic doesn't support VST (although it does show up within Logic - so this totally confused me!).

I've installed the 'pluggo', but not carried out the 'audio unit scan' (whoops!). I'll try this as soon as I can and let you know if it's sorted!

Many thanks dlpinkster. :D
