delta 44 help

hi - i am thinking about getting a m-audio delta 44 to run ms pinky and was wandering:

whether i would still need preamps with this card?

+ if the answer is yes could i not use a spare two channel mixer i have kicking around instead of buying preamps to feed a line signal into the breakout box, then run line outs from the breakout box into my dj mixer
