I'm using ms pinky with the motu 828 soundcard, powerbook G4 867 Mhz and 1gig of ram, ms pinky works fine but sometimes the music jumps as if it looses the frequency send by the vynyl, is this because i need a preamp?, or is it fine with just the motu 828 soundcard?!!
Juan Garcia!!
cheers!!!

A phono cartridge cannot drive a line-level input
Howdy Lastra,
I'd definitely recommend using phono preamps to boost the signal before going into the MOTU 828. All of the MOTU's inputs need a line-level signal (except channels 1&2 which can take a microphone signal). The phono cartridge on your turntable does not put out a strong enough signal to drive a line-level input effectively.
