U46DJ + WinXP FIX!!!!! well ... almost there anyway ...

Post by m3tr1k » Sat Aug 12, 2006 9:59 am

Hey all, noob to the fan club, looking forward to being able to fully enjoy the spoils of Ms Pinky.. so first I wanted to post about how we got as far as we have:

First of all, the U46DJ coming without a power cord is a total trip. Because there's no ground connected to the wall, the first thing you have to do is make sure the grounds are connected to the mixer, not the DAC. The RCA outputs from the mixer go to input 1&2, and 3&4 (i think).

Second, the ESI drivers lick smelly stinky shweaty ballsack. Use this open driver instead: http://tippach.business.t-online.de/asio4all/ you'll have to reboot when you install it. silly windows.

Third, open up the U46DJ's recording level in the Windows Sound tool thingy, and mute it. This will prevent the time code hum from coming at least out of the left channel (i call 1&2).

The only thing that is preventing my happy times with Ms Pinky is the right channel still lets the time code signal through. I can't find anywhere else to block the signal, and the song that is loaded up on the right table plays through. LOUD timecode. Bad.

I'm runnin Ms Pinky on a EF050 series U46DJ, with an AMD 3200+ 2 gigs of ram, Windows XP Sp2.

Thanks, and good luck

check the "audio thru" in the pop-up menu

Marcial--

I'm really and truly sorry for all the hassle with the U-Forty-Sux-DJ

FWIW, I think I know what is causing you to hear the control signal coming through on the second deck. What are all the choices you've made in the little pop-up menus inside the audio file player regions of Maxi? Check this useful note:

If you checked the "audio thru" menu item, then that would certainly explain why you're hearing the awful buzzzzz

If that doesn't stop the buzzzzzz, then re-visit the settings you've made the in the ESI control panel for the U-40-SUXXX. There are sliders in that control panel for the "monitor" levels. Put all those to their minimum settings (mute) and then you should get rid of that sound.

Regarding your more general complaints about the UForty-Suxxx, all I can say is that I have the same box and am using it all the time with my WinXP SP2 machine. These days it's been behaving really nicely. Have you tried it with any other audio apps? If you have an app that can host VSTs, have you tried the Pinky Pluggo to see if that gives you better results? I highly recommend djDecks (which has built-in Ms Pinky support), and also a really sweet program from Down Unda called "Audio Mulch" which functions very well as a host for the Pinky Pluggo:

peace, out..
