error metric problem

Post by mikex » Mon Jul 07, 2008 1:50 pm

Hi,
I have encountered strange problem with error metric in maxi-patch and binkytoy. With maxi-patch error will start at around 0.1 and everything is fine but after few minutes/songs it will suddenly jump to something around 3.0 restarting the audio engine helps setting the same control/vector size seems to help as well but after few minutes it is back at unusable error rate again.

With Binky this problem occurs very quickly within a 10-20 seconds from the beginning of any file...
I am suspecting Maya to be the cause of the problem but many people have use it without any problem so maybe it is something else...
Thanks

Setup:
MBP 3.1, 10.5.4. with latest Quicktime, Aggregated Maya44 Usb, Latest version of Binky/Maxi-patch, Art preamp, 1210MKII, Rane mixer...

The problem is a gradual timing drift between the input and output channels of the Maya 44. Since you're using an aggregate device, you could try changing the "Clock" choice under "Configure Device" in AudioMIDISetup, and also un-check the "resample" buttons.

You might also try not using an aggregate device and just using the default device created by CoreAudio when you plug in the Maya.
