Ortofon alternative???

Post by sadie8686 » Tue Aug 22, 2006 5:43 pm

I have Ortofon Concordes (nightclub, yellow tips) right now. Do I need the entire Digitrack Kit, or can I get the Digitrack stylus and put them on my Concorde cartridge? Anyways, is there a cheaper alternative than digitrack that works???

Use the Shure M44-7

As I've said elsewhere, I personally prefer the Shure M44-7 carts. They grip the vinyl better than anything else out there, and are great for use with Ms Pinky.

I pretty sure that you can swap needles between all of the Ortofon carts.

I contacted Ortofon years ago about this and most of their moving magnet range is based on the same cartridge. The extra you pay for different models is down to the diamond you use eg. spherical, elliptical or line cut.

You can also swap the needles between 44-7s and 44-Gs depending on what you're doing.
