I'm thinking if i can find a nice cheap one of these I'll be able to use an additional input on my soundcard. I've found audiophile ones on google. Does anyone know of or use any middle of the range/cheap ones that would be suitable for mspinky?

You'll have a much easier time finding a turntable with SPDIF output. There are several on the market. Ones is the Numark TTX1, and there are a couple made by Stanton and others. A simple standalone phono-preamp with SPDIF output is not something I've seen anyway...

is there anyway of turning the analog signal after being amp'ed into an spdif input? ive only 1 pair of analog inputs in my sound card but ive one phono spdif input (1phono) type!
