MP5 system and Max 6?
Hi,
Have been thinking about upgrading to Max 6.. Does the Ms Pinky system work with Max 6? Obviously it should, but has anyone actually tested it?
The gen system in Max 6 would be a really interesting companion to the mptcfs object (sample accurate everything!! per-sample DSP operations!)
Thanks

max 6 compatibility
Hi, I have bought Max 6 and mspinky is not working for me. I cannot load any sound file into ms pinky.... it is working with max 5 flawlessly. Even when M4l engine is set to MAX6 it will not work. For me. I hope this will work in future. I actually sad, because dont have licenced max 5 a I dont want to use M4L for this.
try demo
try it in demo version, it is not cripled to use externals
So in the Live 9 beta forum I asked if the Ms Pinky mtcpfs_sa~ object was not working because of some flaw with Live 9 and Max 6.
Ableton employee said it was something that needed to be handled on the Ms Pinky development end, that there was nothing they could do.
So, is the Ms Pinky object gonna make it into Max 6 and the new Live/M4L or is it only gonna remain available in old versions of Live ?

The Ms Pinky objects (including mptcfs_sa~) definitely work with Max 6, at least for me. I've tested them quite thoroughly with Max 6 and OSX 10.7. I have not, however, tested them with Live 9. But I'm guessing if you can't get the Ms Pinky objects to work with your install of Max 6 it's likely because you haven't copied the correct files over to the Max 6 folder.

I've now completed testing the currently available Ms Pinky externals with Max 6.0.8 on Windows 7 (Build 7601). Everything works as expected.
Here's what I did:
1) Download and install a FULLY LICENSED copy of Max/MSP 6.0.8. My machine is running Windows7, Build 7601. It's a Dell XPS9100. Max 6.0.8 is not the demo version, and is not crippled in any way by not being FULLY LICENSED.
2) Download the archive entitled "MaxMSPWinXP.zip" from the Ms Pinky downloads page. Unzip it to a location on your hard drive.
3) Copy the contents of the folder "msp-externals" in the Ms Pinky downloaded folder to C:\Program Files(x86)\Cycling '74\Max 6.0\Cycling '74\msp-externals\. There should be just two files to copy "MPTCFS_SA~.mxe" and "MPTCFS~.mxe".
4) Likewise copy the contents of the folder "max-externals" in the Ms Pinky downloaded folder to C:\Program Files(x86)\Cycling '74\Max 6.0\Cycling '74\max-externals
5) Copy everything in the folder "patches" in the Ms Pinky downloaded folder to C:\Program Files(x86)\Cycling '74\Max 6.0\patches\.
6) DO NOT COPY ANYTHING in the folder called "old_stuff(deprecated)". In fact, just be sure to delete that folder.
7) Copy the contents of the "Max 4 Live" folder to wherever you keep your M4L patches.
If you follow all these steps, you should be able to start up Max 6 and open the "Maxi-Patch-AO.maxpat" patcher file and play a .wav, .aiff, or .mp3 sound file. To use all the capabilities of Maxi-Patch-AO (the OSC stuff) you'll need to download and install the OSC externals from CNMAT. You can get those freely online.

Whew! What a relief. Glad to hear it's now working for you on Windows. The same basic procedure should apply as well for OSX... the names of the folders are pretty much the same just the locations on the hard drive will be different.
And of course you realize that the actual external object files themselves for OSX are different, and are contained in a different download archive called "MaxMSP_OSX.zip" from the Ms Pinky downloads page...
