Ableton crashes when using IAC Driver

Hi all,
I am new to Ms Pinky but a long time user of Ableton and Serato (which never became the perfect combination I hoped for hence moving to Pinky)
I was very inspired by Mastah Lee's video using IAC to create a virtual MIDI input to trigger clips using a MIDI clip but for some reason when I try to run the control clip Ableton freezes or I get a crash with a "Serious error". It works fine when the IAC output is disabled so its definitely related to that.
To set it up I activated it in Audio/MIDI settings on IAC Bus 1 then set up Ableton MIDI preferences as follows:
Input: Remote ON
Output: Track ON
Appreciate any advice.
