Max/MSP Externals & Patches

I dont want to sound like a total tit but what do these do what can be done with then? can u patch max patch with them to improve it :S lol

That is the idea. Maxi-Patch (AO/AV/whatever) are editable using Max/MSP. Change/improve/edit as you please.

I look at externals like vst plugisn

they are just things that you can add into max by placing thewm in your externals folder much the same as you put vst plugins in the vst folder.

Except max msp externals are much more than effects
