recording from a patch

I am very novice to max/msp, so this question may be way off. I am running a patch it will generate sound in real time, what is an easy and free way to record this output

watch out-- it's addictive. Be careful or you'll get hooked and become a Max junkie like me (though I'm in rehab...)
