I can get an mp3 into ms. pinky and control it, but I don't get any waveforms. I get error: JS: no function update_indicator. Has anyone had a similar problem and solution. Thanks.

Sean-

1) What is the version number of the Ms Pinky software you're using?

2) What OS are you running, and what model computer?

I've just double checked Maxi-Patch_AO/AV version 3.6.3 on both OSX and WinXP and the waveforms look fine to me...

I am using 10.4.6. I downloaded the combo version, but that didn't help this problem. I wonder if It has something to do with the javascript files. I get a lot of js errors in the max window. Maybe I have to put the javascript files in a specific folder. I'll search around the forum for any answers.

If you did the shift-click to start waveform calculation on the larger (lower) of the two waveform displays, then when it's done, it doesn't actually load the waveform for viewing until the next time you load the file. That's a bug, sorry. The workaround to that for now is to shift-double-click on the smaller (upper) of the two waveform displays when you want to make it calculate the waveform. That way, once it's done, it should automatically load in and display the waveform. And thereafter, every time you load that audio file, the waveform should load in automatically.

You can also use the "Batch Waveform Calculator" under the Ms Pinky & Me menu to scan through your folders and calculate all the waveforms ahead of time.

that doesnt matter..screen stays black.
if i use the batchform calculation tool the waveform is diplayed in this window (no erros displayed ), but not in the main after loading the file.

also the green loader bar isnt visible in the main window while calculating ( just the text: "Caculating Waveform" )

?
..
thats my prob with the AO-maxipatch.

the AV-version doesnt work anyway, it closes on startup automaticly.(holyshit)

Adjust "Cosmetic Preferences"

If the waveforms in Maxi-Patch_AO/AV are still showing up all black, it might be because you have the waveform's color preferences set to black. Under the "Ms Pinky & Me" pulldown menu at the top of the main window, go to "Cosmetic Preferences". Try setting the waveform's fore/back-ground colors to something other than black and see if that makes it so you can see them.

Delete preferences files and folders

If Maxi-Patch_AV is crashing on startup, here's another thread you should read:

http://www.mspinky.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=578

Basically you just need to delete the Max preferences folders.
