Live Mixing Efficiency - Reducing Mouse Clicks Per Song

Hello There,

I'll be djing my first dance night using BinkyToy next week. Is there anything I can do to make the process of cueing up a track more efficient?

Right now it takes four mouse clicks per song:

1. Drag and drop/ select track

2. Click turntable icon.

3. Click Play button.

4. after track has played, click Close File button to remove track. (Either that or unclick the turntable icon and then unclick the play button.)

Is there any way to reduce these steps in a live setting? Is Maxi-Patch any simpler?

Thanks for your help!

Try Maxi-Patch_AO instead

Thanks for pointing this out. I need to work on that very issue with BinkyToy.

Using Maxi-Patch_AO (or AV) you can reduce the mouse/click overhead considerably. In Maxi-Patch, once you've selected "vinyl ctrl" from the popup menu in the audio file player region, and hit the "play" button, the only thing you have to do when loading a new file is drag-n-drop it from the finder or from iTunes, or select it from the file/folder popup menus. As soon as it loads it's ready for playback without having to turn on anything else.

cheers,
