Supported File Formats

Post by GeeFunk » Wed Sep 12, 2007 4:50 pm

Before I purchase ms pinky, I have 3 questions.

1) is there a complete list of supported audio file formats? In specific, will BinkyToy let you manipulate .flac files?

2) Are any audio codecs really processor intensive to play back? Or with a core2duo cpu, does it just not matter?

3) Do audio files need to be pre-analyzed in any way before you play them in BinkyToy?

thnx :)

Supported formats are .wav, .aiff, and .mp3 only. No .flac. Sorry

Certainly some codecs are much more intensive than others. But with a newer model core2duo mac, they can pretty much all be decoded in real-time.

No pre-analysis is necessary for playback. But if you want to see the waveform displayed, then the first time you open the file it will take a couple of seconds to calculate and display the waveform. But once it has done that, the next time you open that file it will display waveform instantly. Also-- even while it is calculating the waveform, you can still play the file without interruption.
