Does Maxi-Patch ever send MIDI output w/o decks attached?

Hey there,

Just bought 2 Pinky discs and downloaded the software packages. Doing a bit of fiddling with Maxi-Patch to see what kind of MIDI output I can get out of it before having set up decks, audio I/O, mixer etc. Loaded up a couple of audio tracks. Should there be any MIDI at all coming out of M-P at this point? Or does it only send any information at all when there's Pinky-disc timecode/audio coming in?

The MIDI out is really intended for sending turntable velocity and direction info via MIDI. So without decks, it won't be of much use at all.
