Maxi-Patch AO/AV/OSX version 3.5.6: Mucho M∑s MIDI!!

Maxi-Patch AO/AV/OSX/WinXP version 3.5.6 is now available for free download.

New Features:

1) Mucho M∑s MIDI: The number of program parameters which are MIDI-mappable has been increased dramatically. Each deck (audio or QT Movie) now has its own individual MIDI mappings which are accessed from the main view by clicking on "more" (audio file player), or "MIDI map" (QT Movie Player). The procedure for mapping is very simple. In each deck's MIDI mapping view, mark the checkbox labelled "MIDI Enable". Then just watch the control (or note) number and channel number as they are displayed and enter those numbers into the boxes below next to the text title of the control you wish to create a MIDI mapping for. Very simple! Whereas before you could only map MIDI controls to a few things, you can now also map MIDI notes to certain parameters like toggle switches. You can now also select files from within a folder using notes on your MIDI keyboard! Just check out the MIDI map section of the new, improved folder/file selection sections.

2) Save Snapshots of Program State: Under the "Ms Pinky & Me" pulldown menu, you will find a new option: "Snapshots". Selecting this brings up a window where you can create sequences of numbered snapshots of Maxi-Patch's global program state. You can then save these sequences in .xml files and recall them later. This makes it easier to keep track of the sequence of files loaded and the settings made as you create a set mix with Maxi-Patch. When recalling a snapshot, you have the option of restoring the entire global state, or just the local file and other settings for each individual deck (audio or QT Movie).

3) Continuous-scrolling zoomed waveform display: In the zoomed waveform display regions, there are two checkboxes: "snap" and "autoscroll". Enabling the "autoscroll" checkbox causes the waveform display to scroll continuously as the audio file plays. Selecting "snap" instead causes the waveform display to remain stationary as the white play point indicator moves across it, periodically "snapping" the display to show a new portion of the waveform.

4) New and Improved Rotate/Zoom Effects in the QuickTime players: The QuickTime player decks now feature 3 new X-Y controllers (MIDI-mappable) which allow better control over the rotate and zoom effects. To enable the zoom/rotate effect, select the checkboxes labelled "zoom/rotate". Now use the X-Y controllers to modify all the parameters of the zoom and rotation. Map these X-Y controllers to your MIDI hardware controller for some real fun! The auto-rotate and auto-zoom effects are now accessed by clicking on the "mo FX" button.
