Patenting a max msp patch / algorithm in it ?

Post by clement-meloscratch » Sat Mar 09, 2013 2:35 pm

Hello ,

I have been working for the past 6 month on a monster patch leverage the mptcfs object for interpreting hand motion and cross fader techniques into CC controllers . The main part of my work , beside creating functionalities , was to adjust algorithms so that an experienced scratcher/ turntablist could create melodies using the scratching techniques such as flare, 2 click or it etc etc .
Needless to say that the result is quite impressive .
I would like to know if it was possible to patent this ? Either the patch itself or some bribes of algorithms . I'm indeed quite confident that this will sooner or later become one sexy way of using turntables and scratching techniques.
I have already designed such an instrument when following my music technology course in the UK 6 years ago ( it was using a wheel in lieu of the mspinky vynil!!).
Can somebody help me answer this ? I could possibly share the result and screenshot.
Many thanks !
