pluggo vs. vst

Post by heavy » Sun Oct 19, 2008 8:36 pm

hi there,

i'm on OSX and trying to figure out why i would use pluggo vs. vst. on my machine the waveforms seem to show up more consistently in the VST version, so i'm figuring its just less buggy - but is there another reason/way one should be using these two different versions?

i'm using them in Ableton Live for the moment...

The "Pinky Pluggo" was the first plugin we developed. It's made using Max/MSP, and has a built-in multi-mode filter that some people like, whereas the Pinky VST has none. The filter is made possible because of it's being based on Max/MSP. However, the fact that it's based on Max/MSP is also a disadvantage in several ways: 1) The plugin interface is not re-sizeable, and 2) Pinky Pluggo doesn't support multi-core/multi-processor mode in Ableton. To further confuse you, Pinky Pluggo can be used as an Audio Unit, whereas Pinky VST can't.
