Application Hang Problem with maxi patch

Please help me,
the maxi patch software (AO and AV) is causing a Application Hang problem each time I try to adjust the audio settings.
My System:
Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro V2020 Notebook, Pentium M, 1,7Gh, 512 MB, Win XP Pro, SP 2, ESI U 46 DJ + usual DJ setup.
I have installed the latest drivers of the ESI U 46 DJ, the latest version of MS Pinky and Quicktime. I followed all the instructions carefully.
I also set up my computer completely new (Formatting etc.) but nothing helped.
The problem is, that after starting maxi patch and adjusting the audio settings a "Application Hang" problem occurs. THere is also no possibility for me, to adjust the In- and Outputs correctly. At least in one of the Input channels my choice is limited to either "Off" or "Not Connected".
After the Application hang problem occurs Windows askes me to report the the problem to Microsoft.
THe Problem report contains the following information:

I'have experienced very similar problems with the Audiotrak Maya 44USB interface so I returned it to the store. Since the ESI interface is causing the same trouble, I think my computer is the problem, but I don't know where to search for a solution.
So pleeeease help me otherwise I will have to check out Pinkys competitors.
